How skipping meals can be damaging to your health and fitness

Skipping meals might sound like a good idea if you are looking to lose weight but the effects can be quite damaging to your health and overall fitness goals. Maintaining a regular eating schedule whether it be small meals throughout the day or several bigger meals is the best way to achieve long term results and in the end will help you to a healthy lifestyle.

So how does skipping meals effect your well-being? Here are a few negative consequences to consider.

A drop in Energy.

When you maintain regular eating habits you will in turn maintain consistent levels of energy throughout the day. When you have a drop in energy and blood sugar levels it becomes very hard to focus, and this can create a moody, cranky state of mind. It can also derail your plans to workout as you will be tired and have little energy to fuel your body through an effective workout. You may also find that you become fatigued and shaky leaving you feeling sluggish.

Low Blood Sugar.

 “Your brain’s supply of glucose becomes compromised within four to six hours of your last meal or snack” according to Evelyn Tribole, author of “Eating on the Run”. This can leave you moody and just plain out of it when skipping meals. The effects of low blood sugar included loss of memory, focus, and can affect your performance both mentally and physically.

Skipping meals to binge eat later.

You may think you will be able to control your impulse to eat healthy knowing or thinking you can eat ‘more’; however, the chances that you will be quick to grab the first unhealthy option and over eat said option is extremely high. If you are short on time and cannot get to a full meal, grab a shakeology shake or a healthy snack.

How Important is Wheat Grass?


Wheatgrass is well grass essentially. The uses and benefits of including Wheat Grass in your diet are almost essential to many looking to improve their overall health.  Wheatgrass contains many vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin’s A, C, and E, Calcium, magnesium, iron, and amino acids to name a few.

Wheatgrass is known to increase the body’s production of hemoglobin which is found in red blood cells. These cells carry oxygen, improving conditions such as diabetes, prevention of tooth decay and bacterial infections.

Wheatgrass is also used to remove cancer-causing agents as well as toxins from your liver, blood and body. It can be used for such things as reducing high blood pressure, improving your digestion, and lowering cholesterol. Pretty crazy stuff right?

Wheatgrass has also been utilized to treat cancer and arthritis as in alternative treatment programs.
I’m not sure I can stress the importance of such an amazing natural resource available to us.

21 Day Fix – 21 Days to transform your health and fitness


I just returned from vacation and as you can imagine I indulged and enjoyed every second. When I got back I wanted to get my health and fitness back on track; so I decided to give  21 Day Fix a try. I have several friends who in just 21 days have lost a ton of weight and feel and look amazing! I started the 21 Day Fix Beach Body program just 2 days ago and I have to tell you it is by far my favorite Beach Body program I have done.

Now I know I am only 2 days in so why do I love it so much after just 2 days? I’m a gal who loves structure and creativity. This program provides both structure with your workout schedule and creativity with what you can eat. You get a variety of different 30 minute workouts so you do not get bored and they are amazing. I am a fairly fit person and after 2 days of these workouts I am SORE!!!! With regards to nutrition. You have to follow the plan to get maximum results. The great news is that the sky is the limit with what to prepare for yourself. There are recipes for seasonings and dressings (that double as marinades) that are delicious and flavorful. Truly amazing and I can see why so many people love this program and have been so successful. Bonus: for anyone looking for this program in spanish it’s on sale this month!

From large to in charge!

I was scared, anxious, and scared. Did I mention scared? To post the dreaded ‘before and after’ pictures’. But it’s part of my journey to becoming the healthiest version of me. So here goes! Before picture is clearly a very pregnant me.

I have been eating clean, drinking my Shakeo, and working hard with the help of Insanity and P90X3. 6 months later here I am:

It may seem like today, right now, your journey is long, hard, and nearly impossible; but I am here to tell you it is not and you can do it! I still have a little ways to go before I am where I want to be, but I could not be any happier with how far I have come. I want to help you achieve the same!

Don’t Give Up – Get your sweat on!

P90X3 Warrior. This is the best 30 minute total body and core cardio workout.

Coming off a holiday weekend can be down right exhausting! Who wants to give up the sweet indulgences and get back on the healthy train. Well I do actually! It was so hard pushing play this morning. All I wanted after a weekend at home with family and kids running around was to pour myself another cup of coffee and enjoy a moment of silence on the couch while my toddler was at school and my 6 month old napped. But then I snapped myself into check got my butt into workout clothes and I did it. I pushed play on that DVD and worked my little tush off. I’m so glad I did! I am ready for a new week!

So what was on my workout agenda. P90X3 Warrior. Truly one of my favorite total body cardio workouts. You work hard, sweat lots, and feel so great when you finish. What’s not to love?!
