My Weekly Cleaning Schedule

With the current state of affairs and staying home all day errday the house was becoming somewhat of an endless mess. Being that we typically have a cleaning lady (which I am forever grateful to my husband for understanding the need a mom has for such a luxury) I have had to begin cleaning in order to keep others out of the house (a.k.a our beloved cleaning crew). Also, to keep it real with you all a way to decompress and be alone in my thoughts. Oh and there is also the wreck of an economy we are now experiencing so every penny we can save will only help us in the long run.

Cleaning has become a time for me to zone in on something other than the virus that has us all out of sorts with worry. I used to be and prefer to be a one day clean and get it out of the way kind of gal, however, the kids and the husband are home 24/7 and it would literally not happen in one day with homeschooling, that #momlife, cooking, etc… So I created a weekly cleaning schedule. This may not be your cup of tea but it has really been a lifesaver for me on the cleaning front so I wanted to share in case it might help someone else out there.

This is my second week following this schedule and I can tell you it has really made a difference on the daily; it has also kept me from feeling overwhelmed with the endless list of cleaning duties. If you would like this in a pdf let me know I will be happy to send your way!

Sure, they are tough times, but without those hardships growth would be slow or non-existant. Don’t settle for ease, but rather challenge yourself to preserver when you encounter those storms.

Creating Your Future

Create future

We’ve all heard the following “if only…” statements right? Or the “well one day maybe…” in fact most of us at some point have actually said something along those lines. Yes I am guilty myself. Then you come across people who like Abraham Lincoln create their future. They do not wish on things, protest they don’t have the resources or money to reach their goals, etc… I can say I am actually married to such a person who is a ‘creator’ of his future. Nothing can stand in his way when he wants something. I believe this is because he uses his passion to drive him to succeed. Sure he has bad days, don’t we all? He’s certainly not perfect. However, when it comes to his future he is creating it little by little, step by step, reaching every single goal he has along the way. It’s not always easy; it is still work but if you want it bad enough you will do whatever you have to do to succeed.

I talk about setting goals all the time. It is probably the BEST way to stay on track with what you want to accomplish whether that be 1 year down the road or 10 years. Goals Goals Goals; they will keep you motivated, hungry for more, and accountable to yourself.

Finding My Inner Peace

My ‘journey’ has been evolving over the last year. I started with wanting to physically get in the best shape of my life. I achieved that with hard work and dedication. Challenge groups were key to my success.

This year my goal is to work on my inner self. Finding peace, happiness, letting go of unnecessary stresses that will make me a better person, wife, mother, friend. Continuing a journey of health and fitness is a key part of this. What I want to contribute to your journey is not only physical support, but also being vulnerable within my own self in hopes to help you find happiness, peace, and wellness.

If any of this even slightly tugs at you; message me to start on this journey as like-minded individuals looking to better ourselves and each other.

It’s your story to share

dont' be ashamed

Life stories are a combination of many different journeys and snapshots in time. Each of these mini stories can be vastly different or in some way connected to one another; however in the end they make up one’s entire ‘life story’. You don’t have to wait for your life story to be complete to share it and hope it might make a difference in some way. Actually by the time your life story is complete you will likely no longer be breathing (I mean not to be morbid, but let’s be honest).

Some of your experience might mean nothing to most, yet leave an enormous impact on just one person. So why not share your journey, stories, etc…? You could end up inspiring and changing someone’s life.

So don’t be ashamed of sharing your story; you never know who’s life you might end up changing.

Most wonderful time or craziest time of the year?

How about both?! I love Christmas. I love the festive music, decorations, excitement leading up to Christmas eve and day, and the chaos of family and kids running around the house. If you are like me and work from home then you understand this time of year can also become extremely hectic and if not careful rattle some negative nerves in all of us. So here are a few ways to ease the stress of it and focus on the important stuff that matters the most.

  • Get organized. This might mean one to do list to knock out for some OR a master list with 20 additional color coded lists from Thanksgiving to New Years. Whatever works right?
  • Set a budget for everything from cooking for family, gifts, stockings, and decorations.
  • Get the essentials started early. We have a TON of birthdays in November and Christmas. Shop those birthdays online or early like in August or September and start thinking stocking stuffers. Every time you hit the store grab an item or two for stockings.
  • Make a list of everyone you need to buy for and spread everyone out by week or even month if you start early enough. Don’t wait until the last-minute or you might go crazy. I know it is not easy, but try to wrap as many gifts as you can as you purchase them.
  • Delegate. Ask and accept help any way you can. Cooking, cleaning, shopping, decorating. We are only human; don’t try to be a hero; it’s o.k. to ask, demand (o.k. a little harsh I know), and accept that help.

Enjoy yourself. The days are long the years are short; a reminder as the year comes to an end. Remember what is important. This may be different for every family, so whatever the season brings you relish and enjoy every second of it. Moments come and go, but memories from those moments in time last a lifetime.

When you find your passion; share it!

I was recently asked to write a Healthy Living Series for a really cool blog out of New York City, The City and Us. As you know I love health and fitness so being able to expand my audience and share my passion was an amazing honor for me. What is your passion? What is the thing that you enjoy doing and think of often? I never really knew what my passion was until I asked myself this very question one day. I realized that I not only think of health and fitness often, but I also practice it, AND was and continue to be asked about health and fitness by friends, family, and random strangers I meet along the way. It’s something that whether I make money on it or not I will always continue to love and pursue. That to me is passion.

Losing Sight of Comfort Zone

Do you often wonder the difference between the doers vs. the dreamers, the go getters vs. the I wish I had’s? I believe one of the biggest thing that sets these groups apart is their ability to get outside of their comfort zones to achieve what many feel is the unreachable.

What a powerful saying ‘You never can never cross the ocean unless you have the courage to lose sight of the shore’. The Ocean can be a scary, lonely, massive; just like our hopes and dreams or the road we need to get moving on to achieve ‘our unreachable’.

So how can we start learning to step outside that comfort zone? For some this comes as second nature. For others it requires some work. For many it really can be the scariest thing they have ever tried to do. The point here is it is not impossible and anyone can do it if you step outside what is comfortable and safe.

For the second nature group – These guys really don’t need much in the way of advice. They have a vision and they do whatever it takes to get it done, with little to no fear. They don’t let rejection get them down but rather let rejection fuel their hunger. These guys have vision, they are organized, and they know how to stay focused keeping the ‘noise’ out of their head.

For those who have to work at it a bit – This is where the majority of people fall. They have the passion and desire, but often times, fear gets in the way. The good news for this group is that once they take that initial step outside their comfort zone, it becomes easier and easier. Many people in this category learn to overcome fear and rejection and end up moving up a tier into the ‘second nature’ group. Focus comes with some work. They know how to organize their tasks and re-prioritize when they lose focus.

The ‘I’m scared sh*tless to step outside what is safe’ group – If this is you don’t feel there is no hope for you. You just have to work a bit harder, focus, make a plan, have a vision and really stay organize to stay on track with your successes. You will step outside your comfort zone and quickly jump back to your safety net, however, your confidence will build over time and you will also learn to jump into that fear zone and stay there until it becomes a little less terrifying. The best advice I can give this group is to find a successful mentor and surround yourself with like-minded people.

The take away is that ANYONE has the ability to succeed and stepping out of your comfort zone is possible. For some easier for some harder, but success will come to those who commit to their vision no matter how scary it may be.
